Following the success of the first UKVAC Visual Analytics Summer School (camp) in 2010, Middlesex University will be hosting the second event in this series from 3rd to the 8th September, 2012 at their Hendon campus in London.

Aim and Scope of the Summer School
The summer school will provide a multidisciplinary grounding on this emerging and important area. Over a six day programme delegates will learn about visual analytics problems, techniques and solutions from leading international experts in the field. Teaching will be via classroom delivery, discussion and hands-on experience with visual analytic tools. Delegates will be set a group investigation and design challenge which will evolve throughout the week. The summer school will include a lively social programme.

Audience
The summer school is designed for participants from industry, government and post-graduate students with an interest in the area. Programming is not a requirement although a high level of IT literacy is essential.

Fees
Thanks to support from the DHS and Home Office we are able to charge nominal fees:

  • £300 (standard fee)
  • £200 (student fee)

Delegates will receive university accommodation, lunch and refreshments on teaching days, plus a hosted summer school dinner and social outing. Limited number of place remaining.
